A parking garage for 1200 places was the answer. SEED architects were asked to come up with a solution within the urban planning restrictions.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_padding_divider size=&#8221;20&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1451217276790{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-right: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.8) !important;*background-color: rgb(255,255,255) !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text title=&#8221;CONCEPT&#8221; disable_pattern=&#8221;false&#8221;]<strong>A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The site of the Martini hospital borders on a scenic fault line of directions. This has a historical background and is reflected in the current buildings\u2019 directions. In response to this an outline of developing linear volumes is held for the entire site, addressed to the prevailing direction with local twists referring to the angular displacement of the adjacent area. These have been worked out as a two-shifted, linear and horizontal articulated volumes connected by an intermediate strip. On the heads of the strips they distinguish by a diversified closed &#8211; open &#8211; and closed character. The stairwells have been designed as massive, vertically operating volumes, which are anchored to the aforementioned strips. The parking garage is designed as a ramp-garage, wherein the ramp, as expressive element, has been used up to the long wall located along the street. This form gives the facade a dynamic character, enhanced by ending the round on the side facades. Driving around in the garage in this way is suggestively incorporated into the facade which give the garage the character of a parking machine. The applied unilaterally curves at the gable ends strengthen the shifting of the volumes through which a rather dry, civil engineering task has been made an expressive structure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materialisation<br \/>\n<\/strong> The materials and colours are kept modest. They refer to the inset image of the hospital and the road design. The plating is connected with the technical areas of the hospital, running in profiled cladding, light aluminium-coloured. The steel structure is finished in dark anthracite. The fences, serving to separate and to fall protection are executed in a dark anthracite steel wire. The stairwells are finished in dark anthracite profiled concrete, seeking an association with asphalt. The inner sides of the shafts have the same yellow colour as window parts of the hospital.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=&#8221;SUSTAINABILITY&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Deck radiator<br \/>\n<\/strong>The upper deck of the parking garage, which is illuminated by the sun has got a built-in heater. In this system of pipes during summer the water drains the heat to the geothermal heat source of the hospital. In winter the same deck is heated from the heat source to keep it unfrosted.
