Daarna heeft het een paar beperkte uitbreidingen gekend, waarvan de laatsten 2 jaar geleden in gebruik zijn genomen. Bovendien zijn er in de recente periode een aantal afdelingen verbouwd. Het ziekenhuis ervaarde desondanks een flink aantal knelpunten in de huisvesting. Omdat deze knelpunten zich op meerdere plekken uitten diende een helder overzicht van de problematiek te worden gemaakt. In eerste instantie werd een globaal ruimteprogramma gedefinieerd gebaseerd op een beschrijving van de uitgangspunten voor het Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis van de toekomst. Het ruimteprogramma gaf een bandbreedte per functie en van het totale ziekenhuis. In vier verschillende modellen, die verschillende prioriteiten kenden (bv. realisatievolgorde, bouwkosten, totale omvang en functionele indeling) is het programma vertaald. Met gebruik van de BIM-functionaliteit en een koppeling naar Excel werd inzichtelijk gemaakt wat de kostenverschillen waren, de bouwintensiteiten en tijdsplanning (zowel oplevering als kosten). Het Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis heeft uit deze modellen een keuze gemaakt en deze tot masterplan omgedoopt.<\/p>\n
